The International Conference on Magnetism and Its Applications (ICMIA) 2024 was successfully held on September 5–6, 2024 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This international event, organized by the Indonesian Magnetic Society (IMS), brought together researchers, academics, and students to share the latest developments in magnetism and its applications.
Day one featured renowned keynote speakers:
- Prof. Yoshihiro Gohda (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan): “First-Principles Approach to Theory of Permanent Magnets”
- Prof. Dong-Hyun Kim (Chungbuk National University, South Korea): “Ultrafast Spin Dynamics and THz Emission in Magnetic Multilayers”
- Prof. Satria Bijaksana (Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia): “Rock Magnetism: An Unfamiliar Sibling in the Magnetic Family”
- Dr. Moh. Adhib Ulil Absor (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia): “Spintronics Driven by k-space Spin Textures in Two-dimensional Non-centrosymmetric Materials”
- Assoc. Prof. Mohd Mustafa Awang Kechik (Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia): “Superconductor: Methods and Applications”
The second day continued with insightful talks from:
- Dr. Ganesh Omar (National University of Singapore, Singapore): “Advancing the Frontiers of Spin-Orbitronics Through Oxide Interfaces”
- Prof. Jhen-Yong Hong (Tamkang University, Taiwan): “Magnetic Skyrmions and Topological Hall Effect in Magnetic Multilayers”
- Prof. Takeshi Kato (Nagoya University, Japan): “Local Modification of Magnetic Properties by Ion Implantation”
More than 80 participants—including faculty members, researchers, and students—actively engaged in productive scientific discussions across a wide spectrum of topics such as magnetic materials, spintronics, superconductors, rock magnetism, and emerging technologies.
Selected papers from the conference will be published in a SCOPUS-indexed proceeding ( Materials Science Forum and Journal of Biomimetics, Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering ), contributing significantly to the global scientific literature on magnetism.
